Satellite rights of Tamil Cinema’s two most anticipated biggies Thala Ajith’s Vivegam and Thalapathy Vijay’s Mersal have been snapped by Sun TV and Zee Tamil for record price. Zee Tamil’s official Twitter handle has confirmed today that Mersal is with them while sources close to Sun TV too confirm that they have officially secured Vivegam’s rights.
Last year, the satellite market totally crashed that even two blockbuster films Theri and Kabali remains unsold but 2017 seems to be a good year for Tamil biggies as the satellite rights of most of the biggies are being secured by leading TV channels. Among the upcoming big budget films, Suriya’s Thaanaa Serndha Koottam is with Sun TV, 2.O is with Zee, Sivakarthikeyan’s Velaikkaran is with Vijay and the actor’s new film with director Ponram is with Sun TV.
Ajith‘s upcoming release Vivegam is one of the most-awaited Tamil films of the year. The film, that marks the Kollywood debut of Bollywood actor Vivek Oberoi, has already started to mint money. This is for the third time when director Siva is collaborating with Ajith. Now, there are reports that the film has already earned a record breaking amount of Rs 120 crore, even before the release.
