One of the highly expected releases of this year, Vikram Vedha, has opened to rave reception from fans. The film, which released on July 21, witnessed 90 per cent occupancy in theatres on its opening day. Thanks to a unanimous positive response from critics, Vikram Vedha has set the cash registers ringing. As per trade reports, the film has grossed Rs 17 crore in its opening weekend.
Vikram Vedha is released in over 350 screens in Tamil Nadu. However, considering the favourable reviews, the theatre owners are likely to increase the screen count in the coming days. Directed by Pushkar-Gayatri, Vikram Vedha is based on the famous tales of Vikram and Beetal. It tells the story of an honest cop Vikram (R Madhavan), who’s on a mission to nab a notorious gangster Vedha (Vijay Sethupathi).
Vikram Vedha was already one of the most talked about films, courtesy its lead cast – R Madhavan and Vijay Sethupathi. for the first time, Pushkar-Gayathri had had brought together two unconventional, eccentric actors. The racy plot had also intirgued fans especially since both actors were on the opposite side with Madhavan playing cop and Vijay Sethupathi playing gangsta.
As per reports on India Today, the film witnessed 90 percent occupancy on the day of its release. With the positive word of mouth, we can expect the film to continue to reign at the Box office. The movie has already earned Rs 1.6 crore in USA, it’s also performing well in New Zealand, Australia, UK and Malaysia.
