Four Onam movies in Malayalam Velipadinte Pusthakam, Pullikkaran Staraa, Njandukalude Nattil Oridavela and Adam Joan were released all over India on August 31 and September 1. Among the releases, it is Mohanlal’s Velipadinte Pusthakam that has earned the highest collection within seven days of theatrical run. Antony Perumbavoor, who has bankrolled the family entertainer, has revealed that Michael Idikkula (the character played by Mohanlal) rules the box office with a massive collection.
The movie is running average since the first day of its opening at the box and the performance of the movie could have been better but I think on the occasion of Onam the viewers have dealing with lots of cool option so there was a little bit chance of getting the massive box office collection in first three days. The movie has earned the total figure of Rs. 5.20 crore within boundaries in first three days of its opening.
According to the critics, this Malayalam creation has collected the total amount of 6.5 crores from the first four of its opening. the maker of the movie was expected to get a bigger figure but may be the viewers have been looking for some other thrill. Even though, the movie hasn’t crossed its budget amount in past four days but may be the upcoming day will bring some good new to the makers.
Velipadinte Pusthakam earned Rs 4.04 lakh from 21 shows with an average theatre occupancy of 61.44 percent on the seventh day at the multiplexes in Kochi. The movie has collected a total of Rs 43.68 lakh in a week from the multiplexes in the city. Although, the actor Mohanlal which is well known by his previous creation this is the first time he working with the most creative director of the Malayalam industry Lal Josh. But this creation is not getting exactly the same appreciation as both of them were thinking for.
