Udaharanam Sujatha, which is a remake of Hindi film, Nil Battey Sannata, is already a successfully established theme. It was remade in Tamil as Amma Kanakku. So now, the fate of the film wholly rests on how the actors perform and what different charm it would evoke. Manju Warrier playing the title role with deep conviction and involvement, a blitzkrieg of performance is expected from the actress.
However, there is a fear of histrionics and dialogues going overboard and that would definitely ruin the fare. Since the subject deals with life and turmoils of a struggling woman to bring up her child and make both ends meet the course is expected to conjure emotional moments that are real tearjerkers. Apart from the humorous scenes witnessed in the trailer not much is expected from the film to evoke fun and laughter.
Udaharanam Sujatha is about a single mother, Sujatha (Manju Warrier), who is sweating it out for a bright future for her daughter, Athira (Anaswara Rajan). A domestic maid, she does many other odd jobs to make ends meet. “We wanted to emphasis that circumstances need not dictate a person’s future. An individual from a humble background can rise to great heights. We have a fine example in late APJ Abdul Kalam. This is a simple film with an inspiring message.
Although the teaser does indicate similarities between the movie and Nil Battey Sannata, Anuraga Karikkin Vellam. The youngster excitedly talks about working with Madhu Neelakantan, cinematographer of the movie. Calling it a “bonus and a learning experience”, he says he never felt intimidated by the presence of senior artistes in the cast and crew.
