Tula Kalnar Nahi 4th Day Collection: Tula Kalnar Nahi (TKN) Total Box Office Collection

Tula Kalnar Nahi (TKN) is a lukewarm romantic comedy, which is ineffective as both a romance and comedy. Although the film takes place almost entirely on the road, calling it a road movie would be a stretch, as it lacks many essential ingredients of the genre. In a single line, it’s about a couple with irreconcilable differences which mend over a road trip. The central idea is fine and seems workable.

Rahul and Anjali might remind you of Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol from Kuch Kuch Hota Hai but their relationship is quite opposite to that of the stars in the Bollywood flick. Stuck in a relationship that is going nowhere, the Mankames are fed up of each other to the extent that Rahul even gets nightmares about being killed by Anjali. And one fine day, Anjali slaps Rahul with a divorce notice. Coincidentally, the two leave for Goa, on separate trips, a few days later.

As a story, Tula Kalnar Nahi is predictable. You know that the couple will ultimately resolve their differences and end up leading a happy life thereafter. So in the story department, there’s not much novelty. However, the lead pair, Sonalee and Subodh, has enacted the situations so naturally that you end up being hooked. It is as if they actually believe in what they are speaking onscreen. Interestingly, this is the first time the two have come together and, rest assured, their chemistry is crackling.

The film has its flaws, the topmost on the list being the inclusion of stereotyped characters like the oh-so-cool friend, the other woman and the emotional policeman. While trying to present a common situation through comedy, Tula Kalnar Nahi tends to go overboard but it is Sonalee and Subodh’s sincere act that saves the film from falling flat.
