Salman Khan’s Tubelight hasn’t just be a failure at meeting the fans’ expectations, but also a huge disappointment for the trade analysts who were expecting it to rake in the moolah. By now, we all know that that the film has been the slowest in crossing the coveted Rs 100 crore mark. Eid release has earned about Rs 114.50 crore, in two weeks of its release. Fans would remember that Shah Rukh Khan’s Fan didn’t find huge success either but didn’t fail at the pace like that of Tubelight.
Tubelight is ready to end it’s run within three weeks of release at box office. Due to mixed reviews of critics as well as audience, the movie got failed to keep hold and dropped abruptly after the opening weekend. After under-performed two weeks, now Tubelight is running in third week and getting limited footfalls across the country.
Tubelight has been promoted on a grand scale and has received negative reviews from most of the critics. Due to magnificent initial buzz, it registered second highest opening and second highest opening weekend record so far in this year, but settled down very soon after that. This shows that content is the king, if it clicks then movie gets well otherwise results are in front of us.
Tubelight raked the business of 106.86 cr, that includes 64.77 cr of weekend and 42.09 cr of weekdays. In the second week, it faced heavy drop and minted the total amount of only 11.65 cr that includes 8.25 cr of weekend and 3.40 cr of weekdays. Nobody expected such down market performance by the movie of Salman Khan. After the 2 weeks, total domestic collection of Tubelight was recorded as 118.51 cr.
