Salman Khan‘s latest film Tubelight became one of the biggest disappointments this year. As against the trade expectation, the film is crawling at the box office in its second week. And with Sridevi’s MOM and Paresh rawal’s Guest Iin London arriving this weekend, things don’t look great for Tubelight. Despite solid star power and wide scale promotions, this war drama had registered below-expected opening and got failed to impress viewers.
Every Friday a new film comes to entertain the movie goers. While a few have a long run, others just come and go. But for a Salman Khan film to face a struggle at the box office in its second week is surely something no one would expect. But as Tubeight’s box office collections fall by the day, looks like this weekend’s new films – Sridevi starrer MOM and Paresh Rawal’s Guest Iin London might bring some respite. Does that mean Tubelight will be down in the dumps?
On a lower note than the opening week, Tubelight raked the business of only 8.19 crores in it’s second weekend, that was included 2.15 crores of Friday, 2.78 crores of Saturday and 3.26 crores of Sunday. Tubelight did the business of 106.86 crores, with 64.77 crores in weekend and 42.09 crores in weekdays from approx. 4400 screens. With this, the 2 weeks collection of the movie has become 119.79 crores at domestic box office.
The film experienced slight decline in the number of footfalls in cinema halls. Featuring Chinese actress Zhu Zhu and Bollywood actor Sohail Khan in main roles, the Sino-Indian war based celluloid also performed well in the foreign countries. As the lead role player in the film has a huge fan following in overseas, Tubelight earned admirable earnings in international market.
