Akshay Kumar & Bhumi Pednekar ’s most awaited film Toilet: Ek Prem Katha released worldwide on Friday, August 11th. The film got good reviews from the film critics and audience compared Shah Rukh Khan’s Jab Harry Met Sejal which released last week on August 2nd. This film is directed by Shree Narayan Singh and has been jointly produced by Akshay Kumar and Neeraj Pandey under the banner Friday Filmworks, Plan C Studios, Grazing Goat Pictures, KriArj Entertainment and Abundantia Entertainment.
Toilet – Ek Prem Katha registered an 70 per cent occupancy in theatres across the domestic market and collected Rs 30 crore within a span of two days. The film has earned 13.10 crore day 1(Friday) and 17.10 cr. on Day 2(Saturday). Toilet Ek Prem Katha witnessed Fantastic growth on Saturday & Sunday with strong word of mouth. The film has earned Rs 18.50 crore (approx) on its third day, making the total opening weekend collection to Rs 48.70 cr (approx). Now, The film will easily cross 50 crore mark on Monday(day4).
On the opening day, Toilet Ek Prem Katha started the journey on a decent note but picked up very well post noon shows and did the business of 13.10 crores. With this, it has emerged as the 6th highest opener of the year so far in Hindi film industry and 9th highest of Akshay’s career. Then on Sunday with further growth of around 24%, it raked the business of 21.25 crores and raised it’s opening weekend total box office collection to 51.45 crores on 3000 screens nationwide.
Toilet Ek Prem Katha has been entered in weekdays and as usual started getting lesser footfalls in theaters than weekend. On Monday due to partial holiday across India on accounts of Krishna Janmashtami, Akshay-Bhumi starrer remained good and bagged the amount of 10.15 crores domestically. Now there is a public holiday on Tuesday due to Independence Day, so the movie is positively expected to add higher business to it’s account on fifth day.
