Actress Sruti Ramachandran, who played the ghost in Ranjith Sankar’s Pretham, is now set to play a different role in Jis Joy’s directorial, Sunday Holiday. The romcom that features Asif Ali and Aparna Balamurali as lovers, will see Sruti essaying Asif’s ex-girlfriend. The director tells us, She will be playing a girl named Sithara and has an equally prominent role in the movie as Aparna.
Sunday Holiday, evidently, is a tale that happens on a particular Sunday. As shown in the trailer, Sreenivasan somehow convinces film producer David Paul, played by director Lal Jose, to listen to his story. What happens then on forms the crux of the movie. Sunday Holiday has a lot of references to movies. And, the name Unni Mukundan is one example.
A rom-com, the movie revolves around the life of a youngster who lands in Kochi, all depressed in life. Life, and a daredevil girl, shows him how to smile at the occasional set-backs in life. In fact, it is about movies and there are many such references, including Siddique’s character Nakkutty who writes dialogues for Telugu remake movies.
Like his debut Bicycle Thieves, Sunday Holiday will also have some good songs. All four songs are written by me and composed by Deepak Dev. We have released a few songs and they all are well received. The movie will also mark the debut of Aravind Venugopal, son of singer Venugopal. He has sung the melody Mazha Padum.. along with Aparna Balamurali.
