Nivin Pauly – Sidhartha Siva team’s political drama Sakhavu, which was released on April 15 in over 190 theaters across India, took a very good opening. Reportedly, Sakhavu becomes the biggest opener for Nivin Pauly with a gross collection of 2.48 Crores. However, the official box office collection report from producers is awaited. Reportedly, extra midnight shows have been added in many centers.
The movie registered an above 96 percent occupancy on the opening day at Cochin multiplexes and collected over 11 lakhs from there. Sakhavu has opened to excellent inital response from the audience. The movie, directed by National award winner was given a green signal by the critics and the common audience alike.
Sakhavu features Nivin Pauly in a dual role as Krishna Kumar and sakhavu Krishnan. The latter, an yesteryear comrade, is a very challenging role and the actor has given his career best performance for playing the part. Aparna Gopinath, Aishwarya Rajesh, Gayathri Suresh, Sreenivasan, Binu Pappu, Sudheesh, Althaf, Santhosh Keezhattoor and many others are also part of the cast.
Sakhavu is not just a political drama, it has equal doses of romance, machismo and humour. It is a clean commercial package that entertains that can be enjoyed by auidence of all age groups. The movie is expected to continue it’s good run in the coming weeks also. The movie is bank rolled by B Rakesh under the banner Universal Cinema.
