After creating box office records with The Great Father this year, Malayalam Megastar Mammootty’s another film Puthan Panam released grandly on Wednesday, April 12th as pre-Vishu Special to Kerala Audience. Puthan Panam movie written and directed by Ranjith. It is jointly produced by Ranjith, Abraham Mathew and Arun Narayanan under the Three Colour Cinema Cinema.
As the megastar previous film The Great Father is highest grosser at Kerala box office. The Great Father has grossed Rs 4.31 crores on the first day at Kerala box office. According to early reports, Puthan Panam got the decent opening and expected to collect between 3 to 4 crores on the first day.
The trailer of Puthan Panam hints at the struggles faced by Mammootty’s character Nithyananda Shenoy and many others, who had black money when the historic announcement was made. Apart from the storyline that audience can easily connect to, the trailer and teasers of the action thriller have raised expectations due to the megastar’s versatility in acting.
On the opening day, Puthan Panam reported the morning occupancy of only 25% but picked up well from evening shows. The movie received good support of female audience and highest occupancy is recorded in Kerala. As per reports, the movie has minted the amount of 2.53 crores*. The record for highest first day grosser in Kerala was held by superstar Rajinikanth’s Kabali, which had raked in Rs 4.20 crores followed by Mohanlal’s Pulimurugan with 4.05 crores.
