Latest Tamil movie Podhuvaga En Manasu Thangam, which released on 11th August 2017, received less response from the film-watchers. On first day, the film witnessed about 2-3% occupancy in morning shows at several cinema halls across Tamil speaking state. The overall occupancy remained moderate in noon and evening shows. In many mega cities across Tamil Nadu, the latest romantic movie received poor response from the people.
Udhayanidhi Stalin, Nivetha Pethuraj and Parthiepan in leading characters, the Tamil movie showcased poor performance in overseas. The romantic film didn’t get expected response in the foreign countries as latest Hollywood movies have attracted a big number of audiences in the cinema halls. On other side, Kajol and Dhanush starrer Velaiilla Pattadhari 2 took a better start on Indian box office.
The film is narrated in the backdrop of rural Tamil Nadu, and revolves around two men, Ganesh and Oothukaattan. Ganesh is unemployed and young, but wants to work to make the lives of the people in his village bettter while Oothukaatan, a narcissistic older man, wants to blow his own trumpet. Caught in the crossfire of these two men is Leelavathi, played by Nivetha, the young girl who has been trying to pass her high school examination for the past four years. Udhayanidhi Stalin is Ganesh and actor-director Parthiban plays Oothukaattan.
The movie is set in the Tamil hinterland, a first for the prolific actor Stalin. Soori has been added to the mix to amp up the comedy quotient, and R.Parthiban, the veteran actor and director, will play the role of Nivetha’s father. D.Imman has written and directed the musical score and Balasubramaniam has been credited with the cinematography.
