Rana Daggubati has been on a whirlwind tour across South India to promote his latest film Nene Raju Nene Mantri. His confidence about the film is palpable and beneath all the cacophony of promotions, touring colleges, media houses, TV studios and other events, the actor is in Zen mode. The film stars Rana as Radha Jogendra, a money-lender in a small town, who’s pushed to a corner by those who’re in power.
This is Rana Daggubati’s third movie of 2017 and Kajal Aggarwal’s second film of the same year. Rana Daggubati’s last movie Baahubali: The Conclusion was the biggest blockbuster of all time, it went on to become the first movie to cross the Rs 1000 crore mark at the BO. Before that, he was part of Ghazi that didn’t fare too well at the BO but was appreciated for its novel concept. Both were multi starrers, so Nene Raju will be the acid test for Rana as it’s a solo starrer. As for Kajal Aggarwal, she had her first hit with Khaidi No. 150, now let’s see if her winnign streak will continue.
This movie is crucial for him as he still needs to prove himself a commercial star who can carry a commercial concept entirely on his shoulders. Ghazi was a way different and its success after Baahubali in both Hindi and Telugu is definitely an encouraging factor. The producer Suresh Babu was happy for the pre-release business of NRNM. By the virtue of the trailer and Rana’s image after Baahubali, NRNM has a big advantage over the other two releases, Nithin’s Lie and Bellamkonda Srinivas’ Jaya Janaki Nayaka.
Coming to the heroines, both Kajal Agarwal and Catherine Tresa seem to be having strong characterisations. The promotional material and the interviews suggest the same and strong female characters always make the story connect directly with the audiences. Let’s see if the hype on the two heroines is good enough.
