Ever since the trailer of Mohanlal’s upcoming film Villain was released on September 1, expectations began to soar regarding its release. Now, there is a buzz that the film may be out to cash in on the Dasara holidays. Sources say that the filmmakers are contemplating releasing it on September 28th but nothing has been finalized yet as the post production work is still going on.
Villain is the first Indian film to be filmed entirely in the 8k resolutions and released in the same format. Touted to be an action crime thriller, the film will have some high octane action sequences which have been choreographed by Ravi Varma, Ram Laxman, and Action G. The film has Mohanlal playing a retired police officer. It may be mentioned here that the film’s first teaser was released in April this year and had clocked 1 million views in less than three hours.
The film marks the debut of South Indian actor Vishal in Malayalam. Manju Warrier and Hansika Motwani also feature in this film. Hansika plays the role of a singer. Telugu actor Srikanth also dons an important role. Telugu top actress Raashi Khanna too will be seen in Villain making her debut in Malayalam. The film’s trailer was released recently and it took off within no time.
The trailer which had hit the online circuits on September 1, 2017, went on to become one of the fastest Malayalam movie trailers to touch the five million mark. Mohanlal essays the character Mathew Manjooran, a tough police officer, who investigates a gruesome crime, in the film, which is produced by Rockline Venkatesh under the banner of Rockline Entertainments.
