The much awaited Malayalam movie Velipadinte Pusthakam, starring Mohanlal in the lead role finally hit the screens in Kerala on Thursday, August 31 as the first Onam release of the year. The campus family entertainer is screened in as many as 210 theatres in the state. The total screen count of the movie will be over 400 after it releases across India on Friday.
The movie revolves around the life of Professor Michael Idikkula, who is being appointed as the vice-principal of a college in Kerala. He reforms the atmosphere of the institution by developing a healthy relationship between instructors and students. Meanwhile, Mohanlal also appears in a different role as Idiyan Idikkula and the posters reveal that a part of the film is set in the backdrop of a sea shore.
Earlier, the teaser was released which gave the glimpse of Mohanlal’s character, who plays a Vice Principle named Professor Michael Idikkula. And it’s love at first sight for the playful professor after seeing his colleague Mery, played by Anna Reshma Rajan of Angamaly Diaries fame. Then we are introduced to a grumpy looking Prem Raj, played by Salim Kumar, who is against the very concept of love. Michael also reveals that some even Prem Raj Kamaraj. Pun intended.
The film has received some good reviews on social media so far and has opened to a positive note this morning. With other films also releasing this weekend which includes Mammootty’s Pullikkaran Stara, Prithviraj Sukumarans’s Adam Joan and Nivin Pauly’s Njandukalude Naattil Oridavela, makers of Velipadinte Pusthakam will hope to do well and rake in some good numbers.
