Oru Cinemakkaran is a Malayalam movie starring Vineeth Sreenivasan and Rajisha Vijayan in prominent roles. The cast also includes Anusree and Renji Panicker. It is a drama movie directed by Leo Thaddhevoos. Vineeth Sreenivasan starrer new film Oru Cinemakkakaran will have a novelty in it’s promotion. The makers have adopted the traditional way of promoting films through Cinema vandi.
They have used jeeps with posters stuck on them to publicise the release of the movie. In Kerala, prior to the advent of visual and electronic media, announcement of the release of films, information about cast and crew, and releasing centres was made using vehicles. In a Cinema vandi, a person would announce the release of the film through the loudspeakers attached to the vehicles. There will be posters stuck on the vehicles. It was one of the marketing strategies those days.
On the opening day, as predicted Oru Cinemakkaran recorded almost 90% of occupancy in Kerala-Kochi and registered the outstanding business of 2-3 crores from there. From Karnataka and other regions of the country, it has reported around 7 crores. With this total domestic opening collection of the movie has become 28 crores net.
Not only from India, but from overseas market too Oru Cinemakkaran has reported impressive business. Reportedly it has done the business of around 4.92 crores from USA including premiere shows of Wednesday and 1.90 crore from rest international markets, that has made its opening day worldwide total as 34.82 crores net (41 crores gross). The movie is positively expected to remain strong till the entire weekend, as word of mouth is strong.
