Jagga Jasoon Review, Taran Adarsh, Komal Nahta, Rajeev Masand KRK: 1st Day Collection Box Office Report

After extensive efforts of three long years, Ranbir Kapoor and Katrina Kaif-starrer Jagga Jasoos is all set to hit the theaters tomorrow. The movie marks Ranbir’s second film with director Anurag Basu after delivery of a successful box office hit with Barfi in 2012. Ranbir, who is also producing the film, went on record to say that this is his dream project and the kind of movie he would like to direct one day.

Jagga Jasoos is a musical adventure romance drama about a young detective, Jagga, Ranbir, who is on a quest to find his father, who has been missing for a long time now. While people tell him that his father died in a car crash, he doesn’t believe them. And hence starts a whole chase sequence where bad guys are after him. He is accompanied by a journalist named Shruti, played by Katrina.


The advantage when a kid wants to watch a film is that people won’t buy one ticket, the parents also come along and that obviously translates into a bigger box office collection. The other thing is the novelty factor for the Indian space. There has not been any Indian film in a while that has been attempted in this genre. There has been kids-only films like Krrish and they were fun to watch. But such a film with fantasy and a lot of things coming together has not hit the screens since a while and that brings in a lot of novelty for the film.

Ranbir’s last release Ae Dil Hai Mushkil had an opening day of 13.3 crores despite clash with Shivaay. If Jagga Jasoos manages that it will be very good. However that’s not really a possibility. More practical would be numbers around the 10 crore mark. Anything in double digit would be good for the film, though for now it seems like an 8-9 crore opener.
