Shah Rukh Khan, Anushka Sharma’s recently released film Jab Harry Met Sejal to be the savior at the box office, the Imtiaz Ali directorial turned out to be a disappointment at the ticket window. Although, the film started on a decent note collecting Rs 15 crore approximately on day one, the fall on the fourth day is heart breaking.
The trade report further predicted that the film will close around Rs 60 crore nett in the first week, depending on the collection on its fifth day. While SRK fans have lauded him for his performance, many in the audience have not been as considerate and have criticized Imtiaz Ali. With such poor status at the ticket window, the film also added its name to the list of disappointing films of the year after Tubelight.
The story revolves around Harry (Shahrukh) and Sejal (Anushka Sharma)’s journey across Europe. A search for Sejal’s engagement ring makes Harry understand love and relationships better. Sejal experiences new found freedom, security and solace in Harry’s company and in between all of this – there is love, life, lies, thrill, fantasy and the search for the voice within.
In its first three days at the domestic box office, the Imtiaz Ali-directed film has been able to earn a meagre Rs 45.75 crore. The box office hasn’t been this unkind to Shah Rukh Khan in the last five years. Since 2012’s Jab Tak Hai Jaan, most Shah Rukh Khan Films have seen a strong first three days at the ticket windows. The only film that couldn’t cross the Rs 50-crore mark in this period is Dear Zindagi.
