AR Murugadoss’s directorial recent Telugu offering, SPYder has been released this Wednesday on good number of screens in India as well as overseas. The film features Mahesh Babu and Rakul Preet Singh in the lead roles. Harris Jayaraj is the music director and Santosh Sivan is the cinematographer for the film. As per critics, the latest one is a complete entertainment package for Telugu audience.
On the opening day, Spyder recorded outstanding footfalls in theaters and grossed 23.40 crores from Andhra Pradesh & Telangana. At worldwide box office, it did the business of total 51 crores, including 27.60 crores of Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, rest of India and international market. From the next day like all south Indian movies, this one too witnessed abrupt fall in it’s business graph but still remained strong.
Taking the advance booking into the consideration, Spyder is likely to do decent business across South India. The worldwide theatrical rights of Spyder were sold for over Rs 120 crore and the movie should gross over Rs 200 crore to be considered a hit at the box office. Total collection of Spyder after the 5-days extended opening weekend, has become 130.25 crores at global box office and 63.65 crores at AP/T box office.
The collections on 5th day were not much to talk about despite it being a Saturday and a festival holiday. As per trade reports, SPYder collected a mere Rs 3 Cr share on day 4, and took its 4 days total share in the Telugu states to Rs 25.5 Cr. Collections from rest of the world are also pretty baffling except in Tamil Nadu where the film is performing decent.
